| 8-9 mile loop around Far North Dallas, via Preston Ridge Trail and side streets, avoiding traffic.
This route was designed to avoid traffic as much as possible. One trouble spot: the stretch of Campbell south of Frankford can get busy during rush hour.
As of Summer 2011, I recommend doing the loop counter-clockwise. The short connector road paralleling Preston, between Westgrove and Keller Springs, is currently one way, southbound only, narrow and without a sidewalk. The northbound detour would be Keller Springs to Knoll Trail to Westgrove, but this adds 2 full miles to the ride, and that part of Keller Springs can also get busy.
The best modification to add a mile or two to the ride is in the neighborhood west of Preston and north of Frankford. Just go further north along Bentwood Trail or Campbell, or zig-zag some of the east-west streets. Traffic is light through here, and it's a pretty area. |
