| Yet Another South and East Weekday Ride | barryhall | Oct 19th | United States > Georgia > Atlanta | 58km | Training, Onroad, Smooth, Difficult, Safe |
| Covering some great (and hilly) roads south of I-20 and inside the perimeter east, this ride truly has it all. The part from Moreland Ave. to Clifton Church Rd. is particularly nice and memorable for its curves and swooping hills, both down and up. Not the hilliest, at 2300 feet ascended in 36 miles, but some of the hills in there . . . brutes. Glendale Rd. north of N. Decatur, for instance. | |||||

| Heads south a bit, east a bit, and OTP for half a mile; then hits some Bike South route, some Emory, some Morningside, then Ansley Park's one hard hill before returning via Piedmont Park. Forty miles o' fun. | |||||
| Oakhurst to GPC-Clarkston, PATH | barryhall | Aug 31st | United States > Georgia > Atlanta | 9km | Commute, Onroad, Smooth, Intermediate, Low traffic, Safe |
| From Oakhurst: Takes Ponce-PATH past Avondale then uses Rockbridge/Northern/Dial Heights for a low-traffic, pretty hilly route to G.P.C. | |||||
| Downtown Decatur to CNN-ish | barryhall | Aug 28th | United States > Georgia > Atlanta | 11.2km | Commute, Onroad, Smooth, Intermediate, Low traffic, Safe |
| A non-Dekalb Ave. route from Decatur's city-center seven miles to near the CNN center in downtown Atlanta. Utilizes the W. Howard/Dekalb Ave. PATH route and the long on-street bike-lane on Edgewood Ave. And, by Atlanta standards, this is a flat route -- just over 300 feet elevation gain each way. | |||||

| 110 minutes of intown hills | barryhall | Jul 12th | United States > Georgia > Atlanta | 52.7km | Training, Onroad, Intermediate, Safe, Urban |
| An intentionally hilly, in-town circle that weaves all over and aims for small-ring leg busters. Highlights: Houston Mill hill; Coventry; blasting down Ormewood Ave.; Hillpine; and a hidden "gem" in Ansley Park. | |||||

| Double Knob Mega-Bummer | barryhall | Jun 29th | United States > North Carolina > Hayesville | 1.9km | Recreational, Onroad, Smooth, Difficult, Low traffic, Safe, Rural, Scenic |
| Perhaps the silliest climb to attempt out by Lake Chatuge. Is steep at first, then gets *incredibly* steep for a bit before "leveling"-off to a 16-percent average climb in 1.2 miles. The lack of switchbacks is a clue to the absurdity. | |||||

| Stone Mountain from East Decatur Station | barryhall | May 27th | United States > Georgia > Atlanta | 54.6km | Training, Onroad, Smooth, Intermediate, Low traffic, Safe |
| Jack Honderd's fine mid-day route, which is ridden fall and spring while the weather's nice. Includes a half mile extension at the mountain ("Tour of Belgium") and about the same amount in Avondale ("Tour of Flanders"). Departs 11 a.m. every Wednesday 'til June. | |||||
| Hilly Weekend Route | barryhall | May 21st | United States > Georgia > Decatur | 93.8km | Training, Onroad, Smooth, Difficult, Safe |
| Purposefully difficult terrain that meanders eastward to Stone Mtn. via Druid Hills, Decatur, and Clarkston, and returns, wiggly-style, via Avondale, the White Oak hills, East Lake C.C., and Oakhurst. Ridden with a group on a Sunday in December 2008. Quite a tough route. Very scenic and fun in parts, too, especially the winding, swerving part on Rupert/Fairlee/Carter south of Memorial there toward the end. | |||||

| Arabia/Panola, the second | barryhall | May 2nd | United States > Georgia > Atlanta | 95km | Recreational, Onroad, Intermediate, Safe, Scenic |
| Virginia-Highland east; then south to Arabia and Panola parks; and returning via Fairview/Flakes Mill with a northwest jog before crossing I-20. Very pretty riding for the middle third. Around 3000 feet of climbing. Feels like more. Best bits are the sweeping downhill on Singer Way, the parks' nature, Alexanders Lake road's sweet climbs, and the hidden gem Brannen Rd. | |||||
| Pre-Bike South Warm-up | barryhall | Apr 30th | United States > Georgia > Atlanta | 27km | Training, Onroad, Smooth, Intermediate, Safe |
| Eastside Ramble | barryhall | Apr 28th | United States > Georgia > Decatur | 53km | Training, Onroad, Smooth, Intermediate, Safe |
| *Update* As of late April 2009, Porter Rd. is quite dug up and unpassable. (It's the eastern-edge road on the route, near the Dekalb Co. courthouse.) This means an alternative is needed. Rather difficult out there, but Redan Rd. could work. . . . . Goes south and east from Va-Hi, and features no shortage of climbing at 2000+ feet in 33 miles. A few gems (for scenery and curves) include Brannen, Whites Mill, and Porter roads. Of the 33 miles, two would be considered at all high traffic. Otherwise, a super route with no let-up in scenery, hills, and general swervy-curvy-ness. Very few traffic lights, too. | |||||
| Arabia/Panola return extension | barryhall | Apr 25th | United States > Georgia > Forest Park | 37.6km | Recreational, Onroad, Smooth, Intermediate, Low traffic, Safe |
| Heading left, west, where we usually don't gives us a fun trip down Rex Rd. to Forest Park and yet another hidden gem in Forest Park Rd., which comes with scenery, even. | |||||
| Stone Mountain of the Weird Way | barryhall | Apr 7th | United States > Georgia > Atlanta | 87.1km | Recreational, Training, Onroad, Smooth, Difficult, Low traffic, Safe, Urban |

| Super-long way to Stone Mtn. | barryhall | Apr 2nd | United States > Georgia > Atlanta | 65.1km | Recreational, Onroad, Intermediate, Touring |
| Route from near East Lake MARTA. Involves one bit of hike-a-bike and about 15 minutes of busy-road (Snapfinger) riding. Otherwise, a fine longer, out-of-ordinary Stone Mtn. journey. | |||||
| Stone Mountain, long route | barryhall | Mar 27th | United States > Georgia > Stone Mountain | 83.3km | Recreational, Onroad, Smooth, Intermediate, High traffic, Safe |
| Have yet to actually do this whole route in one go. All sections are do-able, even with the busy streets down by Snapfinger. Otherwise, the usual ATL hills and dales make things strenuous. | |||||

| Six Flags to Fairburn | barryhall | Feb 12th | United States > Georgia > Atlanta | 122.4km | Recreational, Onroad, Scenic |
| Passing through: Begin at Va-Hi, following MLK Dr., turning south at 6 Flags, wiggling southward to Fairburn, heading back via airport route | |||||
| Ypsi-Chelsea-Ypsi | barryhall | Dec 15th | United States > Michigan > Ypsilanti | 43.8km | Recreational, Onroad, Smooth, Intermediate, Safe, Scenic |
| Route I rode about 100 times when I was in Michi-land. Every imaginable scenery--city stuff in Ypsi; EMU's campus cut-through; the rail-trail before Hewitt; a four-laner suburban-style jaunt past WCC; Gallup Park's serenity; A2's northside streets; hilly neighborhoods of the westside; Huron River Drive's sweet curves and water; Dexter's small-townies; farms and deer and foxes onward toward Chelsea; and then do it all in reverse. It was a predictable two-hour-forty-minute round trip of 55 miles. | |||||
