| An urban route crossing the Queensboro bridge out to Alley Park and back via Brooklyn and the Manhattan bridge. Mostly on roads with bike lanes or on greenways. A few tricky intersections as one would expect in NYC, but a good weekend route with low to medium traffic. Horace Harding Expy (along the LIE) may be the longest portion with heavier / fast moving traffic, so be careful there. |

Norwalk loop & back to Stanford |

| East Norwalk to Fairfield, mostly along or near the ocean and relatively flat. Then inland north to Aspetuck and looping back to Norwalk - where it's a little hillier. After Norwalk back to Stamford. Note that the part of the ride from Norwalk to Stamford goes through some dicey neighborhoods (consider returning home directly from Norwalk). As expected Sunday traffic is light, although many of the roads don't have much of a shoulder. Vertical climb is 1500 according to mapmyride, 2400ft according to bikely, but my altimeter saw it as a little over 4400ft (def. more than 1500!!!) |
