I contacted the Hudson River Railroad, They will allow bikes on the tourist train. this could be a great bike activity. follow this link for details, it will leave Saratoga about 10 am, $13 one way coach, $19 roundtrip...Dome car is more expensive. www.sncrr.com. I believe that the trip is about 59 miles.... It could be a great day excursion, for cyclists, to ride the train up, and cycle back. Following the river back to corinth, then down 9N , is not too hilly.

The Saratoga Battlefield is a beautiful spot to ride. there are a couple of challenging hills on the 10 mile loop ride. Stop at the visitor center on the way in to get a tour bouchure. Former Railroad bed, From the corner of Beekman Street, near the Beekman street art district, a 0.6 mile trail (down and back is about 1.2 miles) Ashphalt on one side, and stone dust on the other. From Broadway just south of the Holiday Inn, take West Circular street west about 2/10's a mile to Beekman Street, Railroad run is on your left. Leaving from Saratoga State Park, this route gradually climbs out through Milton, and Greenfield. Crossing the Snow Train tracks several times. (Train to Gore Mountain that started in 1934) Route works up to Ormsbee road, where a spectacular view is there for the determined cyclist. The climb is moderately tough, not for the faint of heart, but not the worst climb in the county. Follow the Kayderosseras Creek from Saratoga Lake to Source on Angel Road The Kayaderosseras Creek is the largest river that lies completely within Saratoga County. It originates in the Kayaderosseras Mountain range in the northern part of the county, and passes through the the towns of Corinth, Greenfield, and Milton, the Village of Ballston Spa, the town of Malta, and borders on the City of Saratoga Springs, before emptying into Saratoga Lake. The name means, "the valley of the crooked stream." There were a dozen paper mills along the creek in the late 1800's. There was a 12 mile long electric trolley railroad serving the area from 1898 to 1929 from Ballston Spa to Rock City Falls. Starting in Congress Park, route heads to the north west and quickly to the countryside. A bit hilly in the middle section, beautiful views in the Hudson Valley. The Hill climbing back up from the river is steep, and about a mile long. Return trip will bring you past Moreau State Park, down quiet rural roads, to Fish Creek. Return to Congress park, and then stop in Downtown Saratoga and have a coffee or beverage a one of the many sidewalk cafes.
