| Charlton through Eastern Mongomery | JonS | Aug 22nd | United States > New York > Ballston Spa | 69.6km | Recreational, Onroad, Smooth, Intermediate, Low traffic, Rural, Scenic |
| Nice ride through mostly very quiet roads in Western Saratoga and Eastern Montgomery Counties. Like many of my routes, this one starts and ends at my house. You can always start in the village of Charlton, where there are several public places where you can park, e.g., town hall, and have a very nice loop with approximately the same distance. | |||||
| Ballston Lake training ride | JonS | Aug 15th | United States > New York > Ballston Spa | 36.5km | Training, Onroad, Smooth, Steep, Intermediate, Rural, Scenic |
| good training ride, a little over an hour long at 20MPH pace. Couple of hills make that pace a challenge. Good workout when you've only got an hour or so. Takes the bike path from Outlet Rd. to village of Ballston Lake, but you could also just take Lake Rd. and Schauber into the village, then pick up course on 146A. | |||||
| SCCC 50 mile ride | JonS | Jul 20th | United States > New York > Ballston Spa | 82.1km | Training, Onroad, Smooth, Steep, Intermediate, Low traffic, Rural, Scenic |
| Ride through West Glenville hills and Charlton from Schenectady Community College. Mix of bike trails, rural roads, suburban roads, and a few minutes on Rte 5, which is busy, but has good shoulder for cycling. | |||||
| Lake Desolation 50-mile ride | JonS | Jul 11th | United States > New York > Ballston Spa | 81.3km | Training, Onroad, Smooth, Steep, Difficult, Low traffic, Rural, Scenic |
| Nice 50 mile ride that includes a trip up to Lake Desolation. If you want to exclude the climb, just take Lake Desolation Rd. up to Coy Rd. and head out that way. But be warned that there are a couple of other "fun" climbs even without Lake Desolation. | |||||
| quick ride in Saratoga County | JonS | Jun 19th | United States > New York > Ballston Spa | 38km | Training, Onroad, Smooth, Intermediate, Low traffic, Rural, Scenic |
| Nice ride through some pretty country. Good workout, mix of terrain. Might make it a little longer and avoid Middleline Rd., which has more traffic than the rest of the route, though still not bad. | |||||

| Lake Desolation Circuit | JonS | Jun 12th | United States > New York > Ballston Spa | 67.4km | Training, Onroad, Smooth, Steep, Difficult, Low traffic, Rural, Scenic |
| This is a nice ride with a fairly tough hill in the middle of it. Since the hill is just ridden "because it's there," people could elect to wait at the bottom for anyone who wanted to climb it, and still enjoy a nice ride. As with many of my rides, it starts and ends at my house, but there are plenty of places where you could start. | |||||
