How to get out of Dublin alive Ian Anois Mar 1st Ireland > Dublin > Dublin 203.6km Onroad, Safe, Urban, Touring
This is a set of exit routes from Dublin for cyclists. In my touring in foreign countries one of the worst aspects of cities was trying to find a way out of them, through seemingly endless winding suburban roads. I wish to help foreign tourists find out how to get out, as most of them start here.

Albert to Hoo via Calais and Rochester Ian Anois Aug 14th France > Picardie > Amiens 356.1km Intermediate, Low traffic, Urban, Rural, Touring
This route is in several parts, which are of good use in themselves. The first part, between Albert and Authie in France, is the trail of rememberance / route de souvenir of the Battle of the Somme. It is a sombre, but also scenic and memorable route. Next is a path along the beautiful valley of the Authie. This is also a historic area, where much of the Hundred Years' War was fought in the 14th century. Then there is a coastal route to Calais. Once in England, I used the cycle route 16 mostly to follow the quiet roads of Kent. After Rochester I have marked a good cycle route to the Hoo peninsula, a scenic place with habitats of Special Scientific Interest.
Tours to Beaugency Ian Anois Aug 14th France > Centre > Orleans 105km Recreational, Smooth, Basic, Safe, Scenic
Stage 5 of my 2008 holiday This offers a brief taste of the Loire Valley. Along the way there is good scenery and many wine merchants offering free tastes of the local wine. You will also see many other cyclists as the Loire is the most popular cycle route in France. There is a prescribed cycle route called 'La Loire a velo' and it is good but this is not on it for the most part.

Stage 4 of my 2008 holiday. Girone a frontiere francais. This is mainly cycle tracks and back roads. There are many medieval Catalan villages and much scenic countryside. Mostly on road, it is suitable for road bikes.
