I'm trying to add a route that uses a fairly new road, but the road doesn't appear on the Google Map. When I go to maps.google.com it's there. How can I make sure to use the latest available data from Google to make my route?

Unfortunately how often they're updated is entirely up to Google and their maps licensing partners - nothing we can do about it ;-(

A slightly different, but related, issue: I've also noticed some differences between the maps displayed here and those displayed at maps.google.com, mostly on remote US National Forest roads. It looks like Google updates maps.google.com before it updates the servers used for external mashups...?

So the lesson is that if things don't look quite right here, it's worth checking with google directly.

One solution to this problem that I have used, is to look at the newer Google map side-by-side with the Bikely map and draw in the new road "free hand" as I'm mapping my route. It works pretty well.
