It would be a lot easier to find routes close to home if a search via zipcode feature was added. This would allow you to find routes that pass through your town, even if they don't start or end in your town, as well as routes in closeby neighboring towns. Right now, in order to find routes nearby, I have to think of every town that borders mine or every town in my county and manually type in each name. It leaves a lot of room for error. If a search via zipcode feature were added, I could find all of the nearby routes with a single search.

That would be a problem as not everywhere has postcodes (zipcodes) and they are not all numeric (i.e. England).
Plus Bikely would now have to map all the world's postcodes and their boundaries....

If you search through comments you'll find a hack to search Bikely routes in Google Maps.
Something like:
Open Google maps...
Search for your town...
Zoom in/out to a scale that suits...
now type in the maps searchbar "site: bikely.com" (without the quotation marks).
It should show markers for the routes in your area.
Clicking on a marker will display a line on the map showing the route.
