Does anyone have a good route from the Mission (26th and mission) to Hunter's Point?
I'm trying to avoid the scary Cesar Chavez/101 section.
I have to ride at night, so I really do not like the dark, secluded pedestrian/bike path around there.

    Thanks!

You probably have figured out something to get you from A to B, but I'd just recommend going north a few blocks, then turn right and head east on 20th until you hit 3rd and go south - I've never done this at night so I'm not sure what the lighting conditions are like.

I'd go north on either Bryant or Potrero to 23rd, then east over 101, and back south on Kansas to Army. East on Army to Evans, which has a bike lane all the way to Hunters Point. I use the pedestrian path under 101/Cesar Chavez in the mornings and at night around 5PM to get from Potrero to Bayshore--it's twisted and confusing through those paths unless you've gone there a couple of times during daylight and figured it out. There are plenty of homeless camped out, but they've always seemed less sketchy than what I've seen in Hunters Point.

The issue I'd have with going north is that Portrero Hill is exactly that, a very steep hill. So I would suggest a southern strategy.

Continue south on Mission from where you are. At night, the traffic isn't bad, and there are enough people around that it feels safe. It isn't a racetrack for drivers trying to get out of town, the way Cesar Chavez (Army) is. Go south of Bernal Heights Park and take Cortland across. Cortland has an underpass under the 101 Freeway. It lets you out into the Bayview Industrial area, which is very quiet at night. From there, use Oakdale/Palou to get to Hunter's Point.
