This seems like a nice route. Generally speaking, though, riding on side walks is more dangerous than actually riding on the road, where cyclists legally have a right to be. Using the side walk can be a temporarily smoother ride, but car drivers will NOT be expecting a bike to come into traffic, and there in lies the primary danger. Likewise, the shoulder of a road is just as dangerous, for partly the same reason as the surprise to a driver when you exit the shoulder, but also because the debris that can collect there might puncture a tire or even fly up and hit your body! Asserting your place on the road is essential to having a safe ride and making sure that drivers are ALWAYS aware that you are present in their decision making.
