Hi everyone, I've recently taken up road cycling and I am really enjoying it. I live in Steveston, British Columbia. I am going to participate in the conquer cancer ride this June, riding from Vancouver to Seattle. As you can see from my bike routes (bigguyinvan), I've been averaging approx 30 km per ride. I don't know what category that would put me in but any recommendations on training would be appreciated. Also if there are any riding groups/individuals (in my category level) in the Steveston area looking to participate in the June ride and need(well not need), but would like to invite an extra rider, I'm in.

    Thanks in advance,

    Kenny

I'd suggest meeting up with the Vancouver Bicycling Club or the Vancouver Cycling Meetup Group.
I find that riding with someone faster than me makes me try harder.

Randonneurs are the guys who do hundreds of kilometers at a time and pass me on the highway.

Hooking up with the randos is an excellent move - one of the best I've ever made. The scheduled rides are in your target range (200 km and up) but I've found that individuals are often interested in getting out for shorter rides and definitely encouraging for riders getting into longer distances.
