Would it be possible to upgrade the Bikely version of Google Maps so we can see at least the terrain (contours) option for our routes? I should think the Street View and Traffic and More>Photo options would also be useful.

The new beta version of MapMyRide has both the terrain and topo options (use "Map" pull-down tab at upper right of the map area). I find the terrain to be a nice visual but not at useful quantitatively. The topo option is VERY USEFUL - you can see exactly where all the hills are and what the elevation changes are - to within 5 feet in many areas - as you are selecting the route. I don't know where MMR gets those maps but it would be great if Bikely could add that feature.

    Terrain view is coming.

I don't think Street View, Traffic and More>Photo are available to us yet. Google typically adds features to Google Maps a while before it makes them available to third-party developers, and sometimes not at all.

Topos are harder. MMR has them just for the US. We're reluctant to add a feature that doesn't work for most of the world.

    In the meantime,

Go to Google Maps, center on and area of interest, type "site:bikely.com" into search field and voila!... icons show up for every ride in the area. If you click on an icon, it will display the route line and you can click the Terrain button and all the others available in standard Google Maps.

tbryson, I've tried what you've suggested but can't seem to get it to work. Can you supply an example?
  1.
    > Go to Google Maps, center on and area of interest, type "site:bikely.com"

I get a list of placemarkers from this search, but no routes. Clicking through the links on the placemarks sometimes produces mentions of Bikely or links to other sites with routes, but they don't show up on the Google map.

I am using Firefox as my browser and cannot get anything to come up. I am looking at a place in France where I know there are routes in Bikely that pass through there. Do I have to use Internet Explorer to do this? Just to be sure, I was typing in both the words site:bikely.com plus the words AND the quotes either side "site:bikely.com" and even dropping the site: part and just putting in bikely.com but nothing came up. Any ideas?
