It would be great to have a "print friendly" mode. To follow one of these maps, the odds are that the user will want to print out a series of 8x10 pages with as much info as possible on each map page. Removing the "Bikely" stuff on the left would be nice.

An option for Landscape or Portrait would also be nice.

    Thanks.

Yeah I'm puzzling a bit over how to implement this - agreed it's pretty important.

I'll need to ask some questions at Google Maps HQ and see what the consensus is. Really they'd need to make some provisions in the API to support a super-sized print mode where the whole route can fit.

That might be a bit optimistic, though.

Just supporting the call to be able to print out the marked maps -- a bit hard to have to memorise it all.

I have been recomending Bikely to all my Culb members and the one thing I get as feedback is that the printout does not work well. I have been plot/printing from many software packages and I have made patches to fix this but it would be nice to get a print frindly page with print preview

Printing seems to work OK in Internet Explorer - but not in FireFox v2. There are no workarounds in FireFox, from what I hear at the moment.

Another "Nice thing" would be to be able to print a map section on the top half of the page and the cue sheet for that section on the bottom of the page. Most of our club riders have a map pocket about the size of a standard sheet of paper folded in half. If you could print out the maps this way, they could flip back and forth between the cue sheet and the map.

It's a bit cumbersome, but the only workaround that I've found in Firefox is to do screen captures. For any route that I want to print out, I zoom into areas where there might be a lot of turns to navigate, so I can see all the surrounding streets with the route passing through. Then just hit the "print screen" button on your keyboard (usually up near the F12 key). This copies the current screen image to your Windows clipboard (not sure how this works on a Mac). Then just open an image editing or desktop publishing app and do a CTRL-V to paste the image into a document, then print the sucker out. I usually do this for the entire route, then zoom in for any tricky areas of the route.

But yes, I'd much rather have a print feature built into Bikely to save on all of this cutting and pasting.

Open your GPX files in Google Earth and print from there.

I've found the Firefox add-on "Table2Clipboard" handy - it copies the cue sheet table for pasting into a word processor, and I add the route using a screenshot.

Is there a way that cue sheets could be printed. That would be ideal...

    rsette,

    This is what I do...

    - Show / Cue Sheet
    - Select the Print Preview feature on your browser
    - Find the page which has the cue sheet on it, rather than ads (depends on your browser and whether you're printing in landscape or portrait format. I find portrait works best.)
    - Print only that page

    pramclub,

Thanks for the heads-up on "Table2Clipboard"!
