This route shows the cycling component of the Western Sydney Parklands Track and the Greenway Loop in Greenway Park, West Hoxton.

Note that despite the official announcement that the entire track was open, the section between Power St & Nurragingy Reserve, Glendenning, isn't open yet. Part of this section is still to be constructed. A diversion around this section is shown on the bikely map.

Click on image below to see a few photos from the route.

    Locked gate at Power St.

  1. Do you think it's right that Frank Sartor officially opened the track when part of it hasn't been constructed as yet? If not, please consider sending an email or letter to Frank Sartor and/or your local state MP to ask why it was opened without being completed. I sent an email on 3/2/2008. As of 8/2/2008, I haven't received any correspondence. Below is part of the email that was sent. Feel free to plagiarise.

'I was excited to hear that the full length of the Western Sydney Parklands Track was finally opened on January 24th. I was not overly impressed to discover several days later that one section of the 'opened' track has not even been constructed as yet.
Track users are met with locked gates at both the southern side of Power St, Glendenning and the northern end of Nurragingy Reserve, Doonside. There is no signage at either of these points for detours around the closed section.
What is going on? Are you being honest with the people of Western Sydney? What would happen if an announcement like this were made of a new road, but one section in the middle hadn't been constructed as yet?

Whilst the track is enjoyable to ride along, I have a major safety concern with the track's crossing of Richmond Rd. I feel it is in a very dangerous position. I'd be happy to discuss this and several other issues with the relevant people.'

Instruction at (I think) 21.7 km says turn left at 3rd bridge over M7 - should be turn right. I rode from Elizabeth Drive to 27th Ave & return this arvo. Once turning off the M7 the track has some challenging climbs & runs thru some lovely bush & farm land - well worth the effort

Thanks. Corrected - It must be my left handedness, or left bias :)
It's definitely more up-hill than down from the M7 to 27th Ave (but great coming back)! In the Greenway loop, the climb back up to 23rd Ave is pretty good too.

hi all i worked on building the track stage 1.

Richmond Road is due to have lights at Symonds Road...not safe without just awaiting the RTA...

The locked section should have been completed by now, there was a small section of land to be acquired
Blacktown Council should keep the gates open at the least.

There are plans for many more tracks once
the new Trust gets going so it will be better than filling the place with houses....so just be patient more
should be delivered over the next few years.
