The recording doesn't seem to work when attempting to retrace a route...any suggestions?
  1.
I think I'm having the same problem. It seems that when creating a route, it won't let you click a new point on a preexisting route. I was able to get around this in some places by zooming in and finding white spaces in between the edges of the road and the preexisting route lines to click on, but it is rather frustrating. A fix would be nice.

i am also having this problem--it makes it hard to be accurate with mileage and altitude.
  2.
Similar problem, but with the Elevation profile,

The outward trip profiles OK but the return one stops at some point and "flat lines" back to the finish. Even after "rebuilding the graph" it stays at a flat line.

    Any thoughts?
  3.
It's not just with out-and-backs... Even when drawing a loop, you can't ever retrace over an existing road... very inconvenient, especially because 99% of the routes we do always retrace the same road at some point.

A fix for this would be very important

Depending on what you need to do with your route, you might look at Bike Route Toaster - it has an excellent feature (that Bikely might learn from) that enables you use follow-the-road but offset your route to one side or the other by an amount you choose. You can then easily plot an out-and-back by selecting points on the appropriate sides of the road.

I like mapmyride.com also. It has many features that allow for following roads or not, out and back and loops.

Usually, I can pick points along one side of the road and then use the other side of the road for the return section; Bikely gives me no trouble with this - you just have to zoom in a lot. Once, however, my GPS picked up the end of the route instead of the beginning making for some confusing navigation. Bikely, Mapmyride, Bike Toaster, etc., all have their warts, you just have to pick which one you can live with.
