I am used to tracks that exactly cover (bike) paths or trails. The tracks I see on bikely are converted from direct routes I think... Those tracks are better than nothing but why tracks are not made with gps like Garmin map60...

I, for one, am not completely sure I understand what you are asking. Many tracks here are created on the fly by users selecting a route (and/or using the auto-route function). Other routes that are uploaded are indeed tracks recorded with a GPS device.

I see no significant difference between the two, other than that it is more difficult to create new routes following bike paths (as opposed to public roads) "on the map" as these are usually not included in the provided GoogleMaps-based databases.

Does that answer your question, at least in part?

    Thank you Kevin...
    I will try to explain...
Tracks are quite different from routes of course. It is not possible to create routes on trails or bike-paths. Routes created with a City Navigator follow roads no paths. Without a City Navigator the route is direct (follows the 'bee-line'). A new track made with GPS goes where-ever you go...

The tracks I got from Bikely (as Portland, Or to Salem) are converted from direct routes and therefore don't follow the bike-paths. Sorry for my bad english..

    Hi Heerda,

No problem with your English. If you don't find the route (or track) you are looking for, it's because no one has uploaded it. It could also be that such a bike path simply doesn't exist (in the States there are very few segregated bike paths -- we generally ride on the public roads).
