I have moved from a hard tail to a new full suss, just this last week. I have been out three times on my new full suss and each time, my pedals smash into the uneven XC trail I'm on and I've come off more than a few times now. I never have this problem on my hard tail and comparing the two, as the full suss frame is 21inches (I'm 6'3'') the full suss has a higher ground clearance at the pedal. The problem seems to be that when the bike uses the suspension, as the terrain gets very rocky, the ground clearance gets very low and smack, the pedals go straight onto the first set of stones they come across. I'm spending a good bit of time at Dolby Forest and today was not a good day - to say the least. I must be doing something wrong and need someone with a bit more experience to point out my inadequacies.

It might be as simple as tuning the sag in the suspension for your weight. Or it might be that the springs in the front/rear suspension are too soft for your weight and need to be swapped out. (I'm assuming since you're 6'3" you're on the heavy side). If this isn't set up right, then your weight eats up most of the suspension travel (front and rear), allowing the bike to bottom out more easily. The shop that sold you the new bike ought to be able to address this for you (at no charge).
