While building a route I periodically save the route. Recently the saves have been taking a long time, over five minutes, sometimes indefinite. If I try to log out during the save I get a warning that a script is running.

Is there something I am doing wrong or is Bikely being overwhelmed?

I've rolled out a fix which may address this - let me know if you have any further problems John

    Jules,

I am still having the problem. Tonight I got an error message to the effect that the save had failed. I have tried this using Firefox and IE 6 on a win 2000 PC and Firefox on a Linux PC. Our internet connection is via Verizon DSL over a Linksys router. I wonder if there is a possible firewall issue.

I can save fine on a Win 2000 PC at work.

    Thanks,

    John B.

    Jules,

Any more thoughts on this issue?

    Thanks,

    They must be on vacation...

You might also want to indicate the version numbers for your browsers. Sounds more like a javascript problem to me (but what do I know). :-(

Is there a limit on the number of points in a route? I have a route from my Garmin Edge 305 which has 2500 points. It imports and displays fine, but when I say Save Route, many minutes later I get a message that the Save failed.

I have problems saving route also in both Firefox on Win XP machine and safari on iMAC. I save frequently during build with no error messages and yet when I log out and come back in nothing is saved. Very frustrating...

I also have problems saving my routes. Just like jobertel described. Windows 2K, Brazilian Portuguese, IE6, Firefox or K-Meleon. The same problem.

In the office, Windows XP, no problem.

I'm struggling to replicate this: uploading an 1800-waypoint route works for me, and I know I have been able to upload some that were even longer.

Can people who are having save problems please give me every imaginable detail (OS, browser, connection type and whether you have anything like Norton Internet Interference installed) - and even send me your GPX files - john@bikeradar.com.

    Thanks

I cannot save routes at all. 2 computers both running XP pro, Explorer & Mozilla on both. Tried my brothers login & could bot save on his logon either. He can on his computer at home & work

Without any more specific details, how can anyone help? What error messages, how did you create the route, etc.

I'm having similar problems as to what other people describe. When I save my route, the page responds in one of two ways:

    1) After ~5 seconds, it pops up the message: "Failed to save route - please try again." This means it *actually* hasn't saved the route.
    2) After ~2.5 minutes or thinking, it pops up the message: "Failed to save route - please try again." This means it was just thinking, and it *actually did* save the route.

I have never gotten any other behavior than this from this page (I just started using it last week). It is hard to say when I'm going to get behavior 1 or 2, but once I start getting behavior 1 (ie it won't save), then it never switches back to behavior 2 no matter what I do until I reload the page (and thus lose anything I've been working on).

My setup is ubuntu (Hefty Heron) on an x86 processor with firefox 3.0.1. I'll try a different browser to see if it has any different behavior. Ideas?

To be fair, I'm putting together a really long route (Pacific Coast from Portland to San Diego). I have almost 15000 waypoints right now and almost 1100 miles on the route, but even when it was small, I got the same behavior.
