I don't understand the portion of this route south of E.T. Seton Park ... why climb up to Thorncliffe Park, out of the valley, when you can turn left, walk the footbridge over the railroad track, and keep south on the Central Don and South Don bikepaths all the way to Cherry Street?

This detour is shown on the MapArt Toronto with Bike Routes map. The City of Toronto bike map doesn't explicitly show the detour but it does show a break in the Don Trail between Beechwood Dr. and Pottery Rd. Does this break actually exist? (Note: I didn't create the route and it has been a while since I last rode this part of the Don Trail.)

Agree with Brashley, was just through there July 4 2008, you can stay in the park. I followed bike route 45 North.

There is some construction on the trail leading to Edwards Gardens, the trail is "closed" but still fine to ride, albeit with a couple of rough spots.
