This is my commute and I have to say, dull as ditchwater, visually. It takes about an hour and ten, give or take. Some days, that's a real slog. I chose Birchmount over Vic Pk, even though it adds 10 mins to the journey, in order that I may live to see my next birthday.

Hmmm, looking only at the map and never having been on the ground there, what about slipping over sideways to Leslie Str. and then down -- just for variety's sake? It is capped at both ends, so maybe the traffic volume is not too great. I do agree, when I was commuting by bike in Los Angeles, it could sometimes get boring. I varied this by riding a couple routes, and then sometimes hoping on the bus at an earlier or later point (I was on a folding bike).

The other thing that helps is to find a riding partner (even one you just happen to ride with by chance), but in North America, where very few ride a bike to work, this is more difficult to realize, I suppose.

Best of luck!
