This is a cue sheet for the Varsity Lakes to Tweed Hospital Cruise Bicycle Map. You can print it out for later use.

Cumulative Distance Where Notes Direction Elevation
0.34km 0.34km Currently this has some construction going on. But only a short distance. ENE 57° 1m
0.47km 0.13km About here is the start of a wide lane and a parallel running cycle path alongside the road (Christine Ave) S 180° 6m
1.84km 1.37km 1st set of traffic lights. Road is double laned and fairly quiet E 77° 5m
1.94km 0.1km Burleigh Waters Although a major intersection, these traffic lights aren't that threatening, and you don't normally wait very long here ENE 66° 6m
2.31km 0.37km You need to cross the traffic here. Not normally that difficult outside of peak times. Although mums picking up their kids times are always challenging, to put it politly. Turn Right into Whistkler Dr, which goes past the school, and the road here is like biker's heaven. No really.. SSE 140° 4m
2.69km 0.38km Still on heavenly road surface here E 77° 4m
3.21km 0.52km This can be a difficult corner during busier times. Bit of a blind corner either way, and an unusual road island configuration. Can be avoided by turning left for a couple of meters and then heading south again. S 176° 4m
3.75km 0.55km Dunlin Drive is a quite 40-5km/hr zone. Not quite biker's heaven road surface, but still quite nice. SSW 186° 1m
4.59km 0.84km This little roundabout is quite narrow. So during the few time you will see a car down Dunlin Dr, don't let them bank you in. One tried to make me a cycle pancake here once. ESE 93° 4m
5.5km 0.91km End of flat, easy zone, and a medium wait at traffic lights to cross here. ESE 108° 4m
5.77km 0.27km Burleigh heads Park This is where the road starts to steady incline. Nothing to strenuous. ESE 98° 19m
5.97km 0.2km Tight corner here. Although the map looks like you could continue straight ahead, you have to turn right here. S 170° 20m
6.11km 0.14km Narrow part of road, caused by curving road islands. Traffic coming from Reserve St had a Stop Sign. **For those wanting a Hair Raising downhill, or Lung Busting uphill, feel free to take Reserve St, (STEEP HILL+++) Otherwise follow my directions for a scenic downhill run on Ocean Pde. SSE 156° 27m
6.74km 0.62km By this part of Ocean Pde, your really starting to speed up! Couple of tight corners coming up. WNW 287° 20m
7.08km 0.34km Koala Park Sadly you've come to the end of this downhill dream run. Coming back this way, this section (Ocean Pde) is a gradual incline and well worth it too. Popular with runners, as I've been overtaken on occasions by a few of them on early morning rides. NNE 21m
7.23km 0.15km To avoid mad drivers, or cyclists who have worn out their brakes on Reserve St downhill, turn right here. Also avoids speed humps (about 3 of them). SE 121° 5m
7.98km 0.75km Still no real traffic at this point. Only the occasional fisherman on the bridge ahead. Their used to the sound of my bell now, and tuck in quickly (usually). SE 127° 5m
8.21km 0.23km This part, stick to the bike/pedestrian strip. Slight break in this strip at the caravan entrance. Keep looking, you'll see the path again. :O) SE 118° 1m
8.61km 0.4km Burleigh Heads Although tempted to join the highway here, the local drivers of this road aren't too cycle friendly (I'm sure you know what I mean by that!!!), and besides this is a very busy stretch of road at the best of times. Instead, follow the cycle/pedestrian path right (at the corner), and cross the road a little further down. SW 218° 1m
8.66km 0.05km Like about here. Back on the road. Quiet, and wide. WSW 229° 1m
9.01km 0.35km Two choices here. Turn left at roundabout (quietish road with some roundabouts and red light cameras), or continue to next interection at Parnki Pde (slightly longer, quiet road ocassional views of the canal). SSE 137° 2m
11.43km 2.42km Palm Beach SSE 154° 3m
12.54km 1.11km Palm beach This is where you would join up if you went on Parnki Pde SE 119° 1m
12.72km 0.18km Elanora Caution on this BIG rounabout here. Traffic find it challenging to go at it a speeds at times. Stay to the left side, and once your through the 1st turnoff 'your laughing'. SE 119° 4m
12.91km 0.19km School Zone (2). Again what those mums in their 4W Drives. Their more protective of their siblings, that a pack of Magpies in mating season, even if Magpies could drive. SSE 157° 5m
13.31km 0.41km Currumbin Cute little bridge. Quite wide, and okay even when busy. Otherwise, there is a pedestrian path on either side. SE 134° 3m
14.22km 0.9km Nice steady incline begins here, with plateau half way along E 77° 11m
14.9km 0.68km Look left, and take in that spectacular ocean view. SSE 152° 2m
15.45km 0.56km Narrow part here, but easy to negotiate. SSE 150° 10m
16.22km 0.77km Okay, serious cyclists keep going here. Nice hill! Casual cyclists wanting a leasurely cycle by this stage, turn left into the park, and follow pathway around Currumbin park S 168° 11m
16.48km 0.26km Watch for reversing cars, and car doors opening here! SSE 150° 19m
16.97km 0.49km Tugan Follow Golden Four Drive until Gibson Street SE 126° 7m
19.06km 2.1km Again, Look left and take in that scenery. Breathtaking! SE 135° 9m
20.82km 1.76km You can avoid the roundabout here, by bearing left of the traffic island, and then follow Musgrave St. ESE 95° 8m
22.83km 2km Coolangatta Bit of traffic here, and you could strike a couple of drunks on early Sunday Morning, but usually no too bad. Few speed bumps along the way too. E 81° 6m
23.26km 0.44km Tweed Heads You've just crossed the QLD/NSW border!!! WSW 247° 6m
23.89km 0.63km Bit rocky surface, but preferred over non cycle friendly motorists SE 113° 7m
24.87km 0.98km DESTINATION! And how convienient, a hospital to tend to your injuries....Only kidding. E 83° 8m
