| Recommend ride from Whitetop to Abingdon, VA. It is mostly down hill. There are several bike shops that will transport you and your bike to Whitetop, for a fee, $ 10.00 to $20.00 depending the number of people needing transportation. Damascus is a nice place to stop for lunch and relax.

| The route is on the Colonial Parkway. There is light Vehicle traffic, but speed limit is 25 MPH, and the majorities do obey. Very nice route to ride in the spring, as the flowers are blooming, or fall, as the trees are changing there color |

| A mainly on road route but with a short section (about 1/2 mile) of gravel cycle track to Keyhaven. I do this on a roadbike with 22mm tyres but I wouldn't use an expensive bike for obvious reasons. Take care crossing the A35 at the Cat and Fiddle as this road is very busy. |

| The route is 70% off road and 30% on-road. There is little traffic along the way, but cross walks on some street can be challenging. (Recommend walking) You will travel through four city, Lansing, Calumet City, Village of Burnham, and Chicago. Along the way you will pass and see some beautiful sites. This is a 25 mile One-way trip. I grew up in the area, and use to ride to the loop often, before bike paths, or routes. We stayed in Lansing, Motels much, much cheaper. I and one other person rode this rout and it was great. There are great places to stop and look around. Our journey started at 8 AM, which took 4 ½ hours stopping on the way before arrive in the Loop area. We departed after lunch at 1 PM, and stopped only for water and personal, took us 2:15 to get back. |
