This is a cue sheet for the Cambridge to Burlington commute (easy) Bicycle Map. You can print it out for later use.
| Cumulative | Distance | Where | Notes | Direction | Elevation | |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 0km | 0km | Cambridge, MA | This is my "easy" commute to Burlington/Bedford. It uses the Minuteman bike path and is generally pleasant. In the winter, when the Minuteman is covered in ice, the substitute is to stay on Mass Ave. for the length of the Minuteman segment (points 13 to 73) and bear right onto Bedford St. at Lexington Center into Bedford, and picking up the route after point 76. | NE | 23° | 7m |
| 3.18km | 3.18km | turn left after Cameron to get on the Minuteman (shows up on the map as a rail track without the perpendicular lines). It gets a little weird and squirrely around Alewife and Arlington Center. If you don't like dealing with navigation, you can just stay on Massachusetts Ave. until you intersect Pleasant St. and pick up the path from there. | WNW | 276° | 4m | |
| 6.22km | 3.04km | Arlington, MA | You can try to get on the sidewalk on the far side of Pleasant and pick up the resumption of the Minuteman from here, but it is a bit of a chokepoint for cyclists and roller bladers and can get congested. I prefer to ride on to Mill and pick up the path later on. | WNW | 292° | 12m |
| 6.89km | 0.67km | Turn left here to get back on the Minuteman path | NW | 298° | 17m | |
| 13.76km | 6.87km | Lexington, MA | WNW | 292° | 65m | |
| 17.82km | 4.05km | Bedford, MA | you can continue on the path from here if your workplace is deeper into Bedford (ie. Millipore, etc.). My office is closer to Burlington, so I head right from here. | NE | 38° | 39m |
| 20.67km | 2.85km | it's a bit hillier, but turning right then left on Hancock Lane is a little shorter and faster than making the left onto Page then right on Burlington Rd. / Rt. 62. Hancock is also a quieter stretch and you have a greater than zero chance of spotting turkeys roaming about. | E | 74° | 33m | |
| 22.76km | 2.09km | Burlington, MA | so, from here I would make a left and head up to Crosby Drive, where my office is. Mitre is right here as well. But you can continue on to the Middlesex Turnpike and/or Network Drive to Sun Microsystems, RSA Security, iRobot or a ton of other tech company offices in the area. | E | 78° | 38m |
